The MassHire South Shore Workforce Board creates connections with local businesses, educational institutions and community partners ensuring the alignment of strategic, market driven, workforce goals and initiatives to support the 22 cities and towns within the region.

The MassHire South Shore Workforce Board is committed to aligning workforce development, education and the various human and community services into a seamless, customer-focused network of providers to enhance local customer access.

OUR MISSION

The MassHire South Shore Workforce Board is a federally-mandated, regional organization with local oversight responsibility and policy-making authority for federal and state workforce development activities in the South Shore region.

The organization creates connections with local businesses, educational institutions and community partners ensuring the alignment of strategic, market-driven workforce goals and initiatives to support the 22 cities and towns within the region.

Overview

The MassHire South Shore Workforce Board is operated within the administration of the City of Quincy Workforce Development Department under Mayor Thomas P. Koch, who is the Chief Elected Official.

The organization works in partnership with the MassHire South Shore Career Center, which encompasses comprehensive and satellite facilities across the region where businesses, job seekers and youth can directly access career development services and resources as part of the Career Center network across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The MassHire South Shore Workforce Board is one of sixteen Development Boards across the Commonwealth, which work in collaboration with thirty-two independently operated Career Centers.

Goals

The Goals of the MassHire South Shore Workforce Board are to:

  • Align investments in workforce, education and economic development to respond to regional job growth.
  • Achieve results for all job seekers including individuals with barriers to employment, existing workers and area businesses.
  • Provide all job seekers and workers with the high-quality career training and supportive services they need to obtain and maintain a quality job and career path.
  • Help businesses find skilled workers and train existing employees to meet their current and future workforce needs.
  • Strengthen career pathways, work-based learning, apprenticeship programs, sector strategies, and business engagement solutions.
